2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio vs. Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Maruti Suzuki gave Celerio a major makeover last week. The popular sedan that was first launched in India in 2014 has now entered its second generation. It is now based on the Heartect platform which made the tailgate more spacious than its predecessor. The Celerio is also powered by a new twin-jet engine that promises better fuel efficiency than the previous 1.0-liter engine that powered the first-generation Celerio. All of these factors make Celerio an option to consider. However, the changes resulted in a slight price increase for Celerio, making it slightly more expensive than the WagonR. But does that mean the new Celerio is a better choice than the popular WagonR? Let’s try to find out.

This powertrain develops 66 hp with 89 Nm and can be chosen between a five-speed manual gearbox and AGS (Maruti speaks of AMT). This sedan features the first stop and start idle technology to reduce fuel consumption.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, on the other hand, is available with a choice of a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine and a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine.
