The lithium-ion battery has made its appearance in the mainstream adventure kit over the past decade. The relatively new power player, EcoFlow, put its stamp in the amps with the DELTA central. The smallest of the DELTA range, the DELTA mini, can power an army of mobile media and is a good option for car camping and around the house power supply.
But heavy watts weigh in at the size of a small cooler, making the power bank comparatively less portable. EcoFlow’s RIVER mini is the size of a brick – about 25% smaller than the competition – making it a compelling choice for those who need power without the bulk.

Mini EcoFlow RIVER charging time
One of the biggest drawbacks of a portable power source is the time it takes to recharge them. Charging a depleted power station typically takes 4 to 8 hours. This implies that the on-the-go power source should probably be plugged in the night before.
Lack of time ? EcoFlow built the RIVER mini to recharge from zero to 80% charge in a single hour. Can you spare an extra 30 minutes? It is designed to reach a full charge in 1.6 hours.
Of course, if you have to hit the road, you can charge the RIVER mini by the port of your car. A full charge of the car takes around 3.5 hours, according to EcoFlow.
Off-grid and in the field, the RIVER mini can take advantage of solar. But it will take a little longer. Depending on the cloud cover, it will end between 3 and 6 hours.
That’s a fraction of the time it takes competing power sources to recharge and makes the RIVER mini a real star in the field.
Aesthetic and functional design
Neon shots and lug handles are gone. The RIVER mini powers with a cool and unpretentious swagger. The matte black finish is matched with subtle curves that literally take the edge off this power brick.
Up front, the RIVER mini provides power through four USB ports (including one Type-C for the latest Macbook Pro or iPad), two “Anywhere AC” ports and a single DC port for your car. By cutting the cord, the RIVER mini has a 15W wireless charger for the phone.
You can charge up to eight devices simultaneously, making the RIVER mini a convincing mobile office for the digital nomad.
Power and output
The size of a brick, the RIVER mini weighs just over 6 pounds. Backpackers will likely want something lighter, but its compact profile is around 25% smaller than competing power banks, making the mini RIVER ideal for students, travelers, or mobile professionals who need to relax. switch on when away from an outlet.
300W rated power allows you to charge most consumer electronics like your phone, laptop or drone. If you need to squeeze more juice, the X-Boost mode can boost the load to 600W, which is capable of charging smaller devices like your fridge or desktop.
It’s physics, really. Emitting watts produces heat. To prevent the station from overheating, the power stations are equipped with a fan. The downside is that fans of more powerful stations tend to hum loudly.
But this is not the case with the RIVER mini. Operation and charging whisper at around 40dB. For those who don’t keep up with decibels, this is in the “barely audible range” – like what you might hear in a library.
So go ahead and set up camp at your local cafe. You and your table neighbors can enjoy your lattes.
