THine announces extremely small reddriver for active USB4 copper cables

TOKYO – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – THine Electronics, Inc. (Tokyo Stock Exchange / JASDAQ: 6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interfaces and supplier of mixed-signal LSIs as well as valuable AI / IoT-based solutions, announces the delivery of samples of an extremely small reddriver product, THCE20RD2U11, for USB4 active copper cables (ACC).

THine’s new reddriver, THCE20RD2U11, allows USB4 ACCs to transmit data up to approximately 250 centimeters, three times longer than the length specified by the USB standard for 80 centimeters. In addition to the transmission length, the THCE20RD2U11 has almost half the area of existing similar redirect products.

USB4 can transmit data reciprocally at the maximum speed of 40 Gpbs, or 40 giga-bit-per-second, 8 times faster than the USB3.2Gen1 (SuperSpeed USB) currently penetrated and to provide power of 240W *. Users of computers and peripheral equipment with USB4 can use them in a simple and consolidated way. In case transmitting data over 80 centimeters is not practical, ACCs with the new THine redrivators help give USB4 use cases significant flexibility.

THine is also developing a USB4 transceiver for Active Optical Cables (AOCs) and continuously contributes to computer user experiences and use cases including remote work, metaverse experiences, etc.

Product Features of THine Redirect USB4, THCE20RD2U11

  • Support for USB4 active copper cables

  • CML Rederdriver (dual input and output channel)

  • Single 3.3V power supply

  • Extremely small package: aWLP35 (2.47mm x 3.41mm)

* Electricity supply through ACCs depends on ACC specifications.
